Under-frequency load shedding (UFLS) is a classic and commonly accepted measure used to mitigate the frequency disturbances in case of loss-of-generation incidents AC power grids. Triggering UFLS classically done at thresholds when system collapse already close happening. The renewed interest for synchronous condensers due global trends on massive commissioning non-synchronous renewable generation leading reduction inertia gives an opportunity rethink approach trigger load-shedding activation. This question especially relevant Baltic states facing desynchronization from Russian grid necessity operate isolated island mode. main goal this paper introduce predictive (LS) method without usage either or ROCOF measurements based monitoring active injections prove efficiency concept through several sets study simulations. shows that proposed can provide greatly improved stability system. results are analyzed discussed, way forward practical implementation sketched.
